Artwork: Alone...

Here's a new image using Tommy the robot :)

:D

Artwork: For You...

I wrote on BlenderArtists:

Here's my latest project.

"Tommy the robot steps beyond the confines of his metalic self and expresses the deepest emotion known to man: Love."

One day I was just bored and started doodling in Blender. After a few minutes I decided that this looked like a robot head, and so I started making Tommy with the goal of creating a header image to submit to BlenderNation.

This image was featured on the header of BlenderNation on January 19 http://www.blendernation.com/headers/for-you/

Artwork: Santa's Helpers

Hey everyone!

A little delayed posting this one up but it's been a busy winter :)

I created this piece for BlenderGuru's Christmas Competition and, out of 284 entries, won second place!  Also, this piece was featured on BlenderNation's header on Dec. 28, 2011 :D

Artwork: Wall-e Tribute

Heyyo everyone :)

So recently I ventured over to CGTalk and participated in one of their awesome Hardcore Modelling Challenges.  This time it was a Pixar Tribute and I chose to model Wall-e and EVE.

(from what I wrote on CGTalk)

Out of all of Pixar's films, Wall-e has always stood out to me as being especially well made. Maybe it was the oddity of two robots falling in love with each other, maybe it was the superb modelling and shading, maybe the message contained in the film....but whatever it was, Wall-e has got to be one of the most amazing 3D characters ever created which is why I chose to model him for this HMC. Sadly, I wasn't able to complete the environment from the lightbulb scene near the beginning of the film, but at least EVE found her way into my render :D

I used Blender 2.59 for modelling and shading, Cycles for rendering, and Blender's internal compositor and GIMP for post production. The entire project took about 2 weeks worth of time.

----

Anyways, lots learned on this project and I'm again fired up for the next....whatever it may be   o_O

Happy Blending (and Cycles-ing?  Cycling?  yay new blenderhead word :D :D)

Artwork: On the Edge

This is Steve.  Yes, another Steve.  This time Steve is looking 'over the edge' (metaphor to be interpreted as you wish).

I made this character/scene for Blender 2.59's splash screen contest (which happened a while ago now...just getting around to posting :D).

Here's the nice high res

And the splash entry

But what reminded me to go log into blogger again was a new project that I just finished!  So stay on your toes for that one...posting again really really soon!

Artwork: Cold Life

My first blend while running Blender on Elementary OS.  After using Ubuntu for a while I decided to try out Elementary Jupiter seeing as it's based off of Ubuntu 10.10 and wouldn't be too big of a change.  Elementary is basically a stripped down Ubuntu so Blender runs even faster than on Ubuntu!  Yay!

Go check it out at http://elementaryos.org/

And now the render...

Weekend Challenge #432.  The theme was "Frozen" so I don't really know how I got to this result considering the idea that I started with.  O_o

Artwork: Steve's Dream

It's not a good idea to touch those weird...glowy-cuby-thingamawhatsits.....look what happened to Steve...

About 2? hours worth of work.  All in Blender 2.57.  Glowieness achieved with Indirect lighting.

My second entry to the Blender 2.57 splash screen contest based on my previous render.
